A delegation from the Department of Trade and Industry South Africa visited MyIPO on 28 January 2010 as part of benchmarking studies of the Department on intellectual property in Malaysia.

The South African delegates were led by the Deputy Director General Ms. Zodwa Ntuli, Director of Legal Services Adv Rory Voller and Director of Project Management Ms. Busi Ngwenya.

Mr. Tee Lin Yik from the Planning & Corporate Division briefed the delegates on MyIPO Corporate Profile, followed by Mr. Amran Abas of the Patent Formality Section on the presentation of Patent System in Malaysia.

The briefing session continued with Trademark System in Malaysia by Mr. Abdul Aziz Ismail, Head of Department Trademark Division and Mr. Faiizudin Sharuji, Head of Department Industrial Design Division on Industrial Design System in Malaysia.

Mdm. Sharifah Nadiah Syed Sheikh, Manager of IT Division spoke on Modernization of IP Office, followed by a general discussion on IP related issues in Malaysia.

The delegates were then given a tour of MyIPO’s counter services, public search and library by Mr. Fakhrurazi Nazeri and Ms. Nor Shafiza Md Isa. The programme concluded with a meeting with the Director General, Mr. Kamel Mohamad.
