AMBASSADOR OF ECUADOR, MEXICO AND BRAZIL VISIT TO THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CORPORATION OF MALAYSIA (MyIPO) |

20 July 2010 – The Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has received a special visit from the Ambassador of Ecuador, Brazil and Mexico to discuss matters relating to intellectual property rights.
The visit was led by Her Excellency Lourdes Puma Puma, Ambassador of Ecuador, His Excellency Juan Manuel Gonzalez Bustos, Ambassador of Mexico and His Excellency Sergio De Souza Fontes Arruda, Ambassador of Brazil in Malaysia.
An hour-long discussion was held between the Director General and senior management of MyIPO with three of the Ambassador to discuss on the motion of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) WIPO Treaty for Improved Access for Visual Impaired and Other Reading Disabled Persons which allows copyrighted works to be accessible to the visually impaired.
The discussion led to MyIPO to refer the matter to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumer (MDTCC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Malaysia's position on the motion proposed by Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil.
