P. Ramlee Cheque Presentation


10th August 2010 marked a memorable date as Perbadanan Harta Intelek Malaysia (MyIPO) greeted the fasting month as good Samaritans through its success in organizing the Allahyarham Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s Royalty Cheque Presentation Ceremony at the Le Meridien Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, YB Dato’ Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, right after delivering his inspiring speech on the Ministry’s aim to ensure the industry’s welfare is taken care of well.

Spotlights and cameras were then focused at the center of the stage when the Chairperson, Pn Maria Tunku Sabri called up the eight names of P. Ramlee’s descendants to receive the cheques handed over by YB Minister. Smiles of joy were clearly portrayed on their faces as the cheques exchanged hands and thank yous were repeatedly uttered. Sharing the moment as much as the descendants had, was the Dewan Negara Senator, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Jins Shamsudin who expressed his relief as the issue has finally settled and that his voice in Dewan Negara is proven to be heard and noted. This ceremony, too, witnessed the launching of Tabung Dana P. Ramlee which will be administered by the AmanahRaya Berhad.

Together present at the ceremony were the media and our local artistes, who among others were M. Nasir, Lah VE, Tam Spider and Azan Ruffedge. It is hoped that this event shall open the eyes of the people in knowing the importance of protecting their rights and securing their interests.
