WORKING VISIT BY CHINA INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ADMINISTRATION (CNIPA)
26 November 2018 – MyIPO received a working visit from delegation of the China Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) led by Mr. He Hua, Deputy Commissioner of CNIPA. The objective of the visit is to strengthen cooperation between the two offices and to keep abreast with the latest development of IP system in each country including updates on recent laws and regulations, awareness pogrammes and recent development of IT system to support growing numbers of IP application and registration.
During the bilateral meeting chaired by Mr. Mohd Shahar Osman, Deputy Director (Management) of MyIPO, both offices shared experiences on initiatives to boost IP (more)
COPYRIGHT RELATED SEMINAR: ENFORCEMENT OF COPYRIGHT WORKS IN THE FIELD OF CREATIVE CONTENTS
19 November 2018 – MyIPO hosted the Copyright Related Seminar: Enforcement of Copyright Works in the Field of Creative Contents which was organized by Agency for cultural Affairs, Government of Japan (ACA) and the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) in Intellectual Property Academy of MyIPO. This seminar is one of the bilateral activities between MyIPO and CODA which being held annually.
The objectives of this seminar were to improve the copyright environment in Malaysia through copyright enforcement, digital anti-piracy actions and countermeasures against copyright infringement. (more)
SEMINAR ON GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS
7 November 2018 – MyIPO hosted the Seminar on Geographical Indications which was organized by European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Intellectual Property Academy. This seminar is one of the bilateral activities between the EU and South-East Asia under the IP Key SEA Project.
The objectives of this seminar were to raise awareness among GI producers and associations on the overview of GI Protection System in Malaysia and the mechanism of maintaining and controlling registered GI products. (more)
SEMINAR ON EXCHANGE OF BEST PRACTICES FOR ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS
24 October 2018 – MyIPO hosted the Seminar on Exchange of Best Practices for Enforcement Officials which was organized by European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Intellectual Property Academy. This seminar is one of the bilateral activities between the EU and South-East Asia under the IP Key SEA Project.
The objectives of this seminar were to raise awareness among customs officials on the main issues related to IP rights, and to promote best practice-sharing in IPR protection and enforcement. (more)
PUBLIC LECTURE: PEMARTABATAN BAHASA KEBANGSAAN
19 October 2018: MyIPO hosted a renowned Professor of Institut Alam dan Tamadun Melayu (ATMA),Prof. Dato’ Dr. Teo Kok Seong, for a lecture entitled ‘Pemartabatan Bahasa Kebangsaan’. The lecture was jointly organised between MyIPO and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in IP Academy of MyIPO.
At the outset, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Teo Kok Seong explained about the difference between ‘Bahasa Kebangsaan’ and ‘Bahasa Rasmi’ and its functionality. With regards to Article 152 of Federal Constitution and the National Language Acts 1963/1967, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Teo Kok Seong opined that Malaysian should be proud of their national language which represent their identity. SEMINAR PROTECTING YOUR TRADEMARKS AND INVENTIONS OVERSEAS
15 October 2018 – World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in co-operation with Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has successfully organized the Seminar Protecting your Trademarks and Inventions Overseas: WIPO Services and Initiatives for Malaysian Businesses in Intellectual Property Academy.
The objectives of the seminar were to enhance the participants’ knowledge and awareness on how to obtain patent and trademark protection overseas as well as to expose them to the IP databases which are important places to research before commencing an overseas venture. The seminar also covered different options businesses have to turn their IP assets into profit. (more)
NATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AWARD CEREMONY 2018
13 September 2018 – Twenty-one groups of inventors bagged prizes for their IP accomplishments at the National Intellectual Property Award 2018.
This award recognizes creators, inventors and innovators who have contributed in empowering intellectual property as the national economic driver.
“Innovation should be supported with good leadership to ensure the model and the idea could turns into something profitable,” said YB Dato’ Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumerism in his speech. (more)
