MOU SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN MyIPO AND MYNIC BERHAD
21 March 2019 – Local trademark owners can now register their domain names for cheaper prices through collaboration between Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and MYNIC Berhad.
The signing of the MoU is a positive step taken by both agencies in providing digital branding protection to registered trademark owners through the packages offered by MYMARK.
“MYMARK” is a collaborative program that enables approved trademark owners to secure their digital brandings from unauthorized use and cybersquatters. (more)
ZOOM KARTUN 2019
9 March 2019 – Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) together with Animation Society of Malaysia (ANIMAS),Summit Subang USJ and Red Circle Sdn Bhd organized Zoom Kartun 2019 at the USJ Summit shopping mall in Subang Jaya.
Zoom Kartun 2019 provides a platform for ANIMAS’s cartoon, comic and local animation collectors. Zoom Kartun is an annual event held in the effort to highlight the works of writers, comic artists and collectors of local artworks to the general public. (more)
BRAINSTORMING SESSION ON IP COMMERCIALIZATION
25 February 2019 – Dr.Rozhan Othman, Chairman of MyIPO moderated the brainstorming session on IP Commercialization today at IP Academy of MyIPO.
The objectives of the brainstorming session were, among others, to identify nationally applicable preconditions for successful academia-industry collaborations.
The panel discussion revolved around three main key take-aways which are; boosting collaboration with industry, missing link in IP commercialization and roles of Technology Transfer Office (TTO). (more)
ASEAN-USPTO ADVANCED WORKSHOP ON THREE-DIMENSIONAL AND OTHER NON-TRADITIONAL MARKS
15 February 2019 – MyIPO hosted the ASEAN-USPTO Advanced Workshop on Three-Dimensional and Other Non-Traditional Marks which was held which was organized by United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and ASEAN Secretariat.
Designed to be practical with lectures, discussions and simulation exercises, the workshop encouraged active participation and exchange of knowledge among the participants. Throughout the knowledge sharing from speakers from USPTO, Ms.Cynthia Henderson and Ms.Attiya Malik, they gained an insight of the three-dimensional marks and non-traditional marks which includes colour, sound, scent, motion, hologram, texture, tactile and touch. JIWA SME CONFERENCE 2019
30 January 2019 – Dato ‘Mohd Roslan Mahayudin emphasized the importance of brand registration in expanding businesses at the JIWA SME Conference 2019 today.
The Director General of MyIPO notes that brand registration at MyIPO will grant exclusive rights to its owners.
“The trademark owner who registered their trade mark at MyIPO may take legal action against those who infringe their trademark. They also may seek cooperation from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumerism (KPDNHEP) to seizure the counterfeit goods.” (more)
COURTESY CALL FROM EMBASSY OF JAPAN IN MALAYSIA
18 January 2019 – Dato’ Mohd Roslan Mahayudin, Director General of MyIPO received a courtesy call from Commercial Attaché, Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, Mr. Sosuke Tanaka at MyIPO office today.
The one-hour meeting had discussed several important issues on IP legislations and protection in Malaysia, particularly the acts to combat counterfeit products.
The visit provides an opportunity for both sides to discuss ongoing efforts and new initiatives to raise public awareness about counterfeiting.
SIGN-OFF MEETING FOR ICT STRATEGIC PLAN 2018 – 2020
14 January 2019 – Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has proactively formulated the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Strategic Plan to empower and strengthen MyIPO’s delivery system, Dato’ Mohd Roslan said today.
Specifically, the ICT Strategic Plan comprises four strategic imperatives for the transformation journey till 2020. (more)
