Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) is an autonomous, corporatized agency under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism responsible for the development and management of the intellectual property system including patents, trade marks, industrial designs, copyright, layout designs of integrated circuits in Malaysia.
Our mission is to provide strong legal infrastructure and effective administration regime to enhance greater creativity and exploitation on IP.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for candidates with

• A Degree with competitive grade point average from a recognized public or private institution;
• Excellent command of Bahasa Melayu and English, both oral and written. Knowledge of other languages is an added advantage;
• Excellent computer skills i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, power point;
• Positive attitude, creative, resourceful, confident;
• A team player, yet able to work independently in managing workload with minimum supervision;
• Flexible and able to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast paced environment to meet deadline;
• Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills, report writing and presentation;
• Willingness to travel, local as well as international;
• 2-3 years of relevant experience. Fresh graduates (or graduating class of 2009) with knowledge in the field of intellectual property

  are also encouraged to apply;
• Pass in Bahasa Melayu (inclusive of oral test) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or an equivalent qualification, recognized by the
  Government of Malaysia;
• Malaysian citizen;
• Must be 18 years and above at the closing date; and
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 

1.  LEGAL OFFICER, IPL 41 – 1  position

Classification : Legal Services
Service Group : Management and Professional
Grade   : IPL41
Scale of Salary : RM 2,443.00 – RM 7,026.00
Reporting to  : Legal Officer, IPL 48

The roles and responsibilities include:

• Assist the Legal Officer in providing legal advisory services and preparing legal opinions on all legal matters particularly on IP 

   laws and other laws applicable to MyIPO;
• Prepare cause papers and attend court on behalf of the organization in all litigation matters;
• Prepare draft proposals on IP laws;
• Draft and review documents, correspondences and any other documents that may be referred to in a written agreement; and
• Conduct research on special areas of the law as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Degree in Law and admitted to the Malaysian Bar;
• 2-3 years of working experience in litigation; and
• Able to analyze legal issues and provide recommendations or solutions.

 

2.  SPECIAL OFFICER TO DIRECTOR GENERAL, IPE41 – 1  position

Service Group : Management and Professional
Grade   : IPE41
Scale of Salary : RM 2,443.00 – RM 7,026.00
Reporting to  : Director General

The roles and responsibilities include:

• Provide executive support one-on-one working relationship with the Director General (DG);
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing and monitoring extensive confidential information coming into and

  out of office;
• Manage the office and liaise professionally with heads of department in the absence of DG;
• Serves as a liaison to the Corporation members and senior management team and oversee special projects;
• Analyze incoming correspondence for questions requiring decision, approval, and action and provide needed background
   information;
• Liaise with heads of department to compose initial drafts for letters, memo, reports, speeches and meeting presentation
  materials for the DG; and
• Provide routine update reports and perform research as needed by collecting and analyzing information.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Degree in Law / Economic / Engineering / Business Studies / Commerce / Mass Communication or equivalent;
• Minimum 2 years working experience in an administrative or similar capacity;
• Good interpersonal; communications and coordination skills;
• Possess strong sense of confidentiality;
• Good management, exceptional organizational and time management abilities;
• Possess high degree of self-motivation, result-oriented and able to work independently, flexible, able to do multi-tasking and

  work under pressure in a fast paced environment;
• Detailed, analytical and meticulous, strong in communication, articulation and presentation skills;
• Team player with strong leadership, problem solving, negotiation and program management skills; and
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to think laterally, produce articulate ideas and present opinions.
 

 3.  CORPORATION SECRETARY, IPE41 – 1  position

Classification : Corporate Services
Service Group : Management and Professional
Grade   : IPE41
Scale of Salary : RM 2,443.00 – RM 7,026.00
Reporting to  : Director General

The roles and responsibilities include:

• Handling corporate matters i.e. board resolution, compliance of relevant laws or regulations and corporate governance

  guidelines, annual report;
• Handling board meeting and report; and
• Taking minutes of Board Meeting.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Degree in Law / Economic / Engineering / Business Studies / Commerce / Mass Communication or equivalent;
• Holder of ICSA and a member of MAICSA will be an added advantage;
• Minimum 2 years working experience in corporate secretarial function;
• Good interpersonal; communications and coordination skills;
• Possess strong sense of confidentiality;
• Good management, exceptional organizational and time management abilities;
• Possess high degree of self-motivation, result-oriented and able to work independently, flexible, able to do multi-tasking and

  work under pressure in a fast paced environment;
• Detailed, analytical and meticulous, strong in communication, articulation and presentation skills;
• Team player with strong leadership, problem solving, negotiation and program management skills; and
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to think laterally, produce articulate ideas and present opinions.
