19 November 2018 – MyIPO hosted the Copyright Related Seminar: Enforcement of Copyright Works in the Field of Creative Contents which was organized by Agency for cultural Affairs, Government of Japan (ACA) and the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) in Intellectual Property Academy of MyIPO. This seminar is one of the bilateral activities between MyIPO and CODA which being held annually.

The objectives of this seminar were to improve the copyright environment in Malaysia through copyright enforcement, digital anti-piracy actions and countermeasures against copyright infringement.

Mr.Zulkarnain Muhammad, Deputy Director General of MyIPO (Strategic & Technical) who officiated the seminar said that MyIPO is giving more attention on the Copyright Voluntary Notification System which helps copyright owner to keep an official record of their copyright in the Register, to support their claim towards ownership of the copyright and the particulars of the same in case of dispute.

Among the speakers presented at the seminar were from ACA, CODA, Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., International Federation of The Phonographic Industry (IFPI), ASTRO Malaysia and Enforcement Division of Ministry Of Domestic Trade and Consumerism (MDTC)
