INTRODUCTION
Dana Pemfailan Harta Intelek (Dana IP 2.0) program 2024 is an intellectual property filing funding grant provided by the Government of Malaysia. The grant is available to eligible Malaysian Citizens who meet the requirements.
Dana IP 2.0 aims to encourage innovation and the protection of intellectual property among Malaysians. In addition, this fund also aims to increase the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs by providing intellectual property protection to further stimulate the national economy.
APPLICATION DATE
Dana IP 2.0 submission is open starting from January 2024 until 31 May 2024 / the quota is full.</strong.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
1. Malaysian citizen ages 18 and above
2. Application open to:
i. Individuals;
ii. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) / Sole Proprietorship Company / Partnership;
iii. Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif (KIK) Agency / Government;
iv. Local Communities (for Geographical Indications);
v. Students from College / Technical Institutions / Polytechnics / Local Higher Education Institutions and equivalent; and
vi. Students from primary / secondary schools (applications will be made under the name of the school)
3. Applicants are only eligible to apply for ONE application per calendar year for one of the following intellectual property components:
i. Trademarks;
ii. Patent;
iii. Industrial Design;
iv. Copyright; or
v. Geographical Indication (local communities only).
TERMS AND CONDITION OF THE APPLICATION
1. Before submitting a Dana IP 2.0 application, please ensure that you have prepared and completed all the required documents.
2. Online applications are required to upload documents in the correct format i.e. DOC/PDF/JPEG/PNG.
3. The requested application will go through a screening and selection process that will be handled by the Dana IP Screening & Selection Committee as it is not automatically accepted to be given funding.
4. Dana IP 2.0 Committee will notify any application results via email submitted in the application form. Please ensure the email submitted is still active and valid.
5. Successful applicants are required to sign the Letter of Undertaking and must comply with all the conditions outlined.
6. Successful applicants will be assisted in the process of preparing the filing documentation and be given a voucher for filing an application at MyIPO (Headquarters/Branch).
7. The funds given to successful applicants will be in the form of Filing Vouchers instead of cash. The Filing Vouchers provided are non-transferable.
8. If the applicant fail to respond to communication from Dana IP 2.0 committee within the allocated time, the applicant will be considered as NOT INTERESTED and the APPLICATION WILL BE CANCELLED and will not be eligible for further consideration.
9. The information required according to each intellectual property component are as follows:
i. Patent Application
a) Details of the inventors if more than ONE (1) person;
b) Diagrams, flowcharts or drawings that can assist in understanding the intended use of the invention (if any);
c) Additional information/ supporting documents such as feature table; literature search (if available).
ii. Trademark Application
a) Details of the applicants if more than ONE (1) person;
b) A clear image of the trademark/logo to be registered;
c) TMA1 Form (Application for Preliminary Advice and Search);
d) Company Registration Certificate by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) / Local Authority (PBT) (if any) that are still active.
iii. Industrial Design Application
a) Details of the applicants if more than ONE (1) person;
b) Representation of the design to be registered (perspective/ front/ back/ side/ top/ bottom views. At least ONE (1) view);
c) Company Registration Certificate by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) / Local Authority (PBT) (if any) that are still active.
iv. Copyright Application
a) Details of the applicants if more than ONE (1) person;
b) CR-1 Form (Notification of copyright in a work Form);
c) A copy of the work in softcopy (CD/DVD/pendrive). The size of the copy most not exceed 3GB.
d) CR-1 Form and the copy of the work must be submitted to the Dana IP 2.0 Committee within 3 working days. If the documents are not submitted, the application will not be eligible for consideration.
v. Geographical Indication (only open for local communities)
FUNDING SCOPE
1. Dana IP 2.0 2024 will cover for the following items:
i. The official intellectual property filing fees at MyIPO; and
ii. Prior Art Search and Patent Drafting fees by patent agents registered under the Dana IP 2.0 program (Ejen Paten Dana IP 2.0) (for patent applications / utility innovations (UI))
2. Funds will be given to successful applicants in the form of Filing Vouchers. The vouchers provided are non-transferable.

TMA4 Form – Request for expedited examination of a trademark application

Patent / Utility Innovation (UI) Form 1 – Request for Grant of patent; or

Form 14 – Application for Grant of a Certificate for a Utility Innovation
Form 5 – Request for Substantive Examination
Form 17 – Appointment or Change of Patent Agent
Form 22 – Statement Justifying the Applicant’s Rights to the Patent / Certificate for Utility Innovation
Fees for conducting a prior art search by a patent agent
Fees for drafting a patent specification and filing out the required forms by a patent agent

Industrial Design ID 1 Form – Application for a single design & (representation views as approved by the Dana IP 2.0 Committee)
ID 9 Form – Request for amendment of an application for registration industrial design or registered industrial design

Copyright CR-1 Form – Notification of copyright in a work
Geographical Indication GIA1 Form – Application for registration of geographical indication
GIA7 Form – Publication of acceptance
