2. MyIPO, EUROPEAN PATENT OFFICE AND JAPAN PATENT OFFICE SIGN MoU TO PURSUE COLLABORATION ON IP SYSTEMS AND PRACTICES
10 December 2020 – MyIPO hosted its first-ever virtual National IP Award (NIPA) ceremony today. The shift in format is a consequence of heightened COVID-19 protocols which are in effect to combat the coronavirus.
NIPA 2020 received 138 entries from high school, technical institutes and vocational colleges from all over the country for the two categories which are Intellectual Property Inventor Category and Young Intellectual Property Inventor Category. The finalists for the national level are the gold medal winners of NIPA’s zone level competition.
The winners for the Intellectual Property Inventor Category are Kolej Vokasional Alor Setar, Kedah (Gold), Politeknik Banting, Selangor (Silver), and Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Kemasik, Terengganu (Bronze). Meanwhile, the winners for the Young Invention of Intellectual Property Category are SMK Tun Tijah, Melaka (Gold), Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya (Silver), and SMK Tengku Lela Segara, Marang Terengganu (Bronze).
This year’s award focuses entirely on the aspects of creativity, quality, industrial applicability, benefits and added value of products with the main focus is on the originality and the benefits its offers to the society.
The ceremony was officiated by the Director General of MyIPO, Dato’ Mohd Roslan Mahayudin, Deputy Director General (Strategic & Technical) of MyIPO, Zulkarnain Muhammad and Deputy Director General (Management) of MyIPO, Fatimah Rohada Dahlan.
