NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP) MANAGEMENT IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE ENABLING IP ENVIRONMENT (EIE) PROJECT
20 April 2018 – MyIPO has organized a National Workshop on Technology Transfer Office and Intellectual Property (IP) Management program in cooperation with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Japan Patent Office (JPO) on from 16th to 20th April 2018, at IP Academy of MyIPO.
The main objective of this program is to train officials from the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) from selected Universities, Research Institutions and Government Agencies in commercializing inventions produced by their respective institutions. WIPO has also invited experienced Technology Transfer experts from abroad as a speaker for this program.
Among the invited foreign speakers were Mr. Richard S. Cahoon, Adjunct Professor Cornell University; Ms. Yumiko Hamano, Sr. WIPO Expert & Intellectual Property Consultant; Mr. John Arthur Fraser, former President of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) 2006-2007, Mr. Surya Raghu, ET Cube International Partner and Mr. Eric Deleglise, Questel Business Development Director. The WIPO has been represented by Mr. Fumio Enomoto as program coordinator.
There were also several government agencies such as Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), SME Corp, Platcorm Ventures and MOSTI were invited to deliver a talk on the funds offered by their respective agencies.
This program has successfully exposed participants from local TTOs on the best methods of internationalization practiced. The program has also provided a platform for interaction and collaboration between universities and industry to promote technology transfer activities between the two parties.
