NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE GUIDES FOR IDENTIFYING AND USING INVENTIONS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN


17 June 2019 – MyIPO hosted the National Workshop on the Guides for Identifying and Using Inventions in the Public Domain which was organized by World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).

The objective of this workshop was to provide to our local innovators the necessary skills to identify various inventions in the public domain and further using and exploiting inventions in order to develop or improve upon current available technologies.

In this program, the participants were exposed to a searching method called “Freedom To Operate” which help them in searching for available technologies relevant to their field of research.

The workshop was joined by all representatives from participating TISC and EIE Spokes of Malaysia and was officiated by Dato’ Mohd Roslan Mahayudin, Director General of MyIPO. Among the speakers presented were Ms. Nathalie Montillot, Program Officer of WIPO, Ms. Donna Perdue, Principal of Perdue IP Law and Ms. Komal Bajracharya, Research Associate, Northwestern University USA.

MONTHLY ASSEMBLY, MAY 2016


13 May 2016- The monthly assembly was held at the Intellectual Property Academy, in collaboration between Policy and International Affairs Division, Corporate Communication Division, Legal Advisory Division and Director General Office.

Director General of MyIPO, YBhg. Dato’ Shamsiah Kamaruddin, in her speech highlighted the first quarter performance of IP application and registration. It comprised of trademark, patent and industrial design. She also announced the flexible working hours in conjunction with the fasting month. She hopes that the opportunity given will help the muslim staff to have ample time to prepare their iftar.

The Director General also urged all MyIPO’s staff to join the Intellectual Property Day Celebration which will be held on 15 May 2016 at IOI Citymall Putrajaya. “The Intellectual Property Day Celebration is a good branding strategy for MyIPO”, she said.

It was continued with the presentation of jersey to all the four contingents, namely Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta. The assembly was concluded with the multimedia presentations on compilation of MyIPO’s programmes and activities between April and May, as well as the introduction of new staff.
