MYIPO RAISES AWARENESS ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY FINANCING AMONG CREATIVE INDUSTRY PLAYERS

PETALING JAYA, 13 MARCH 2026 – The Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has taken an early initiative to raise awareness on Intellectual Property (IP) Financing among creative industry players through a seminar held in Petaling Jaya.

The first series of the programme brought together IP owners, creative industry players, financial institutions, and IP valuation experts, with the aim of strengthening Malaysia’s IP commercialisation and financing ecosystem. The seminar was officiated by the Director General of MyIPO, YBrs. Ms. Yusnieza Syarmila Yusoff, who highlighted that intellectual property should not only be seen as legal protection but also as a valuable economic asset for financing and investment purposes.

The programme aims to shift industry perception from “protecting ideas” to “commercialising assets”, while also providing exposure on IP valuation and creating opportunities for collaboration between IP owners and financial institutions.

The seminar also featured industry experts and creative practitioners who shared insights on IP valuation, investment opportunities, and business development strategies.

Through this initiative, MyIPO hopes to bridge the understanding gap between creators, IP owners, and financiers, while strengthening Malaysia’s intellectual property commercialisation ecosystem.
